BIO
I am a professional, freelance writer with over 26 years of experience in the publishing industry including 4+ years as editor of a regional quarterly print magazine, 2+ years as co-creator/editor of a hyper-local weblog, and 14+ years writing for online publications.
Most of all, I am a storyteller. A journalist who knows what questions to ask to produce original quotes and content, and who can take a complex concept and distill its message into a conversational narrative for mainstream readers.
I love researching, exploring topics to unearth all angles and facts. As a writer and an observer, I know the importance of listening to capture that original story. Often, when interviewing sources for feature-length pieces, I have been told in the middle of a conversation, “I can’t believe I just told you that!”
My niche and passion is writing about:
• all-natural + eco-friendly lifestyles and product
• profiling people making a difference in the world
• education and learning styles
I have also written about the food movement and travel. As a parent advocate, I recently began covering special education/kids with exceptional needs, and the power of knowing you can succeed no matter what your obstacle.
I am mom to two boys: one 14-year-old who reminds me to live in the moment, and one who anchored my life 26-year-old years ago. When I am not writing you can find me digging in my garden, hiding out with a book, finding a mountain to hike or an excuse to go for a run. I love to eat fresh, in-season produce and sip craft beer with friends and family. I live in Southeastern, Pa with my husband (who is is an amazing good cook), and my younger son.
When time permits, I craft essays. Like most writers, stacks of unfinished pieces hover in a file on my computer.
I believe in simple, all-natural + hand-crafted, underscoring quality goods created by big thinkers driving change and dedicated to giving back. I am committed to supporting organizations that make our world a better place.
That's why I chose to I specialize in profiling companies (or individuals) dedicated to the environment and fueled with a passion for giving back to the community.
Conscious consumerism is a mindful approach to spending that can make a difference in someone else’s life. Your support, like it or not, comes by way of how you give out your hard-earned money, so why not make it count?
Have fun. Respect the planet.
